hi, i'm rume
bee farmer cosplaying as a software engineer. based on Sol III. obsessed with the idea of computers doing very human things.
now
i'm an engineer at anchor (yc s22). we build infra that helps businesses launch banking and payment products across africa.
i also lead our ml work.
before
i built three products at feeble: case-flow, a case-management platform for a law firm, blay, a team workspace with real-time docs and whiteboards on web, desktop and mobile, and coop, an api that lets developers send and receive imessages from code.
i built financial tools for schools and families at Sproutly — the school dashboard, Sproutly4good, and an internal analytics system that killed about 90% of the manual work.
Before that, I was at KEEPUP and Sikadua HFT.
Along the way I also built ULLU's shopping experience and a play-to-earn game (this is just a demo and not the live thingy) on the Sui blockchain.
side of desk
I volunteer with Drama Queens — making the world a bit safer for marginalized groups.
I once built a distributed hash table in Go because I wanted to know how they actually work. i rebuilt my final-year project, a computer vision model that detects cocoa pod diseases, with transfer learning. I made a Chrome extension that replaces every image on a page with BoJack Horseman. That kind of thing.
misc
I read a lot. Fiction mostly, especially by African authors. I'm on a quiet mission to read a million books before I leave this simulation.
Philosophy and quantum mechanics keep me up at night. When I'm not doing any of that, I'm scrolling through pictures of cats, dogs, and horses on twitter (no, i am not calling it x).
Also, plantain.
